The Montessori classrooms consist of 5 main areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.

Practical Life

The Practical Life area in Montessori is purposeful activity that develops motor control and coordination, independence, concentration, and a sense of responsibility. The exercises in practical life cover 5 main areas of development: grace and courtesy, care of self, care of the environment, control of movement, and preliminary exercise.

Sensorial

The materials in The Sensorial area are carefully designed to isolate a specific sensory quality, such as color, shape, texture, sound, and weight. By manipulating these materials, children can develop their ability to discriminate and classify sensory information, which lays the foundation for more complex cognitive processes.

Language Arts

The Language Arts area encompasses all the aspects of language as in traditional classrooms: reading, handwriting, spelling, grammar, creative and research writing and oral presentation. The curriculum is divided into three key stages: the preparatory stage, the symbolic stage, and the reading and writing stage.
Each stage is meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs and abilities of children at different developmental levels. Phonics is taught through a variety of materials such as sandpaper letters, moveable alphabets, and sound games. Phonics instruction is an effective way to teach children how to read.

MATH

Montessori Mathematics focuses on concrete materials and moves to more abstract concepts. Children start by physically manipulating materials before moving on to memorizing facts. The process also involves working with materials to help children recognize shapes, angles, size, volume, position, and spaces.

SCIENCE AND CULTURE

The Montessori Science curriculum allows children to learn about the world around them while simultaneously engaging in their sense of wonder. Science can be found everywhere from the simplest nature walk to an in-depth discussion of volcanoes and chemical reactions. Science is a thrilling exploration and adventure where we cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, responsibility and sustainability. My personal favorite part of our science learning is our outdoor environments when we expand learning beyond four walls. Gardens become laboratories where botany is lived and nature transforms into arenas for geological and zoological discoveries.
